Caramel Apple Tart

General: Serves 8 to 10.


Ingredients:

250g [250ml] butter or margarine

375ml sugar

5ml vanilla essence

3 eggs, beaten

1ml salt

2,5ml fine nutmeg

2,5ml fine cinnamon

2,5ml fine cloves

375ml [180g] cake flour

7,5ml baking powder

62,5ml milk

410g tin of tart apples, coarsely chopped

Syrup:

250ml cream

125ml sugar

5ml vanilla essence


Method:

 

Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

Grease a ovenproof dish or 8 - 10 ramekins.

Beat the margarine, sugar, essence, eggs and salt well together.

Sift in the spices, flour and baking powder and stir in the milk and apple pieces.

Pour into baking dish/ramekins and bake for approximately 20 minutes or until cooked.

Boil all the syrup ingredients together in a saucepan and pour over the baked dessert.

Can be served hot or cold.
