Basic Scone Recipe

General: An old English delicacy!

Ingredients:

750ml flour

20ml baking powder

60ml sugar

60ml milk

5ml salt

45ml oil

1 egg

water

60ml currants [optional]

5ml vanilla essence [optional]


Method:

Sift dry ingredients together and add beaten egg, milk and oil. [Make a well in the centre to pour in the liquid.]

Mix with a wooden spoon.

Flatten the dough on a floured surface and cut out round shapes. Bake in a preheated oven of 220 degrees Celsius 7 - 10 minutes.

The heat can be reduced to 200 degrees after 5 minutes, if the oven seem to be to hot.
